Why should I have Carbinite applied to my pulley?
All serpentine belt drives suffer from some amount of slippage. Sometimes the slippage problem is amplified by smaller diameter pulleys, limited belt-to-pulley contact areas, and high accessory loads. Carbinite’s unique textured coating provides optimal grip for serpentine belt systems, reducing or eliminating belt slippage. This set-up allows for more power to be transferred through the serpentine belt system. Our textured carbide coating, optimized for grip and belt life, is metallurgically bonded to your pulley and is guaranteed not to chip, flake, or peel.
  • You may see an improvement in your boost level.
  • Carbinite can eliminate the need for a 6-to-8 or 8-to-10 rib conversion.
  • In some cases, Carbinite can eliminate the need to go to a “cogged” set-up.
What pulleys can be coated with Carbinite?

Carbinite can be applied to most steel or aluminum pulleys for street cars and race cars that use a serpentine belt. High-performance marine pulleys (water pump and/or supercharger) can also be coated.
Carbinite can be applied to crank or harmonic balancer pulleys, although belt slip here is not usually an issue.

Carbinite can be applied to V-belt pulleys like the pulley to the left. This is not recommended since belt shred is a known problem.
Note: Carbinite cannot be applied to cogged pulleys, C32 AMG or similar pulleys, or to a pulley with vertical slots cut thru the ribs.
What is the cost to coat my pulley with Carbinite?
Pulleys under 4 inches in diameter - $110.00 per pulley plus return shipping.
Pulleys between 4 inches and 8 inches in diameter - $155.00 plus return shipping.
Pulleys over 8 inches in diameter require a custom quote, use the link below.

How long does the process take?
Can coating be expedited?
Pulleys can take up to 3 business days to process once they arrive at Carbinite’s facility. Return shipping is via USPS and transit time depends on your location.

You must choose a shipping option at checkout.
Pulley's can be coated and shipped one business day after receipt for an expedited coating fee of $35.00 per pulley.
If you want expedited shipping along with expedited coating, an additional $60.00 will apply along with the expedited coating fee.

How do I place an order for Carbinite's pulley coating?
  • Standard and expedited orders must be placed on the website and paid using PayPal. Scroll down for the Order Form link.
  • No pulleys will be processed without payment in advance, including pulleys being drop-shipped to Carbinite.
  • For pulleys over 8 inches or international orders, you will be invoiced for the charges through PayPal.

Carbinite does not notify you when your pulley arrives. Use a trackable shipping option for arrival notification.
You will be emailed a return shipment tracking number when your pulley is finished and has shipped back to you.
What if I notice belt shred or other problems?
On the rare occasion that you experience belt shred, squeaking, or any other issue, please contact Carbinite Metal Coatings at contact@carbiniteracing.com. We will help you troubleshoot the problem, which is often misalignment or inadequate belt tension. Any belt can be used with a Carbinite-coated pulley. Our testing shows that the green Gates belt seems to hold up to the coating better than other belts.

Carbinite cannot be held responsible if you do not seek help or do not follow our troubleshooting advice. NO refunds for pulley coating are given for any reason.

V-belt pulleys coated with Carbinite are known to shred belts. It is not recommended to coat a V-belt pulley.
